The most unstable application on my Mac: Firefox
Posted by Giovanni Intini | Filed under Firefox, Mac
Is it just me or Firefox is the most unstable mainstream application available for the Macintosh platform? I have to quit and reload it at least twice a day because it hogs resources until the system isn’t responsive anymore. From now on I will resume using Safari for everything but JavaScript debugging.

Try using BonEcho, http://www.beatnikpad.com/archives/2007/09/19/firefox-2007—Even though it’s an optimized build I still get hogged down by the application. Can’t live without firebug though

Unfortunately, that’s what I use, and I also can’t live without firebug

It’s unfortunate that the dom inspecter in webkit isn’t as useful. I really wish there was an awesome plug-in for safari that would be better, oh well. I found that disabling firebug actually helps with performance. I only turn it on when I use it. But … that’s most of the day so I guess I’m screwed, lol. Mozilla needs to release an ‘official’ version of Firefox for the Mac.

It’s ashame that it’s come to this. Firefox used to be such a stable application—now with all these updates, somehow they’ve created a POS (piece of $hit). I have to force quit this sucker dozens of times. I have no additional extensions. It’s become a craptastic browser.
