PHP @ Yahoo!

As I said in my last post yesterday I attended PHP Day, mainly for the presentation given by my friend Federico Feroldi, Senior Architect Engineer at an important internet company (not the most important one though).

The presentation was really nice, because it’s an insight in Yahoo’s architecture and it’s helpful to understand certain best practices for really-high traffic websites.

You can find the slides here.

Yahoo European Hack Day 2007

I was so thrilled when I read that Yahoo! was having a hack day in Europe that I ran and submitted my registration in a blink.

Now a week has passed and I discovered that my application has been accepted. That’s really nice, but I still don’t know what I’m going to work on during the Hack Day.

As usual I’m quite open to suggestions, so please comment if you have an idea you would like to see implemented or if you will be there and are looking for someone to work with.

Who knows, you could be part of something that will change the world as we know it ;)

Javascript Classes

Before you go “hey, but js doesn’t have classes” let me tell I meant classes as in “school classes” :)

I don’t usually like repeating myself and writing posts about links I put on my del.icio.us, but this time I have to. I’m having a great time learning from these videos of Doug Crockford’s presentation of JS @ Yahoo!

Wonderful stuff there, after 15 minutes of the first video I already learnt some JS tricks I didn’t know (or didn’t care about).

Flickr and Yahoo and WordPress

Today I met a bunch of cool people at the Yahoo Italy HQ. I will talk about that in a future post (the very next one), but I had a urge to try Flickr and its integration with wordpress. Let’s see if it works by showing you a picture of my last day in Kyoto in Oct. 2006.
